Check out the newest theatrical performance from Emursive Productions, Life and Trust, which opened on August 1st at 69 Beaver St., NY, NY. From the team behind Sleep No More, this three-hour experience features elaborate sets, original choreography, and a story that will leave you stunned. Here are some spoiler-free reasons why you should buy your tickets today and see this new show yourself.
The storyline is inspired by Johann Goethe’s and Christopher Marlowe’s views on the story of the folklore literature character Faust. This necromancer sold his soul for knowledge and pleasure. Reading and learning about Faust may benefit those who don’t know his general story, but if you’re unfamiliar, you should still find the show enjoyable.
The sets created for Life and Trust take you into scenes of beautiful estates, lush gardens, a burlesque theatre, and much more. With large-scale sets, audience members can appreciate the hours of detail put into them and engage with the pieces, such as opening drawers, flipping through books, lifting rugs, and much more.
The dancers showcase their artistic skill during this three-hour performance in breathtaking dances choreographed by siblings Jeff and Rick Kuperman, who are known for their work on the Tony Award-winning show The Outsiders.
The audience gets to participate by pretending to be ghosts, wearing masks to hide their identities, and staying quiet. This unique experience lets audience members follow around the performers and explore sets up close and personal to immerse into the scenes.
The location is Conwell Coffee Hall, where you can enjoy a cocktail before the show starts and appreciate the former bank’s transformation. After the performance, explore some hidden Easter eggs, like the mural behind the teller’s desk, to understand more of the real story.
