November 17,  2022 – March 2023: The Rink at Brookfield Place

Located on the Waterfront Terrace, the Rink at Brookfield Place opens in mid-November for another memorable skating season. New Yorkers and tourists alike will enjoy breathtaking views of the cityscape and Hudson River while skating the 7,350 square-foot outdoor rink. It’s the perfect place to celebrate a birthday. New to skating? Guests can also sign up for private and semi-private lessons led by US Olympians Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov. Hours vary and are weather permitting.

November 25, 2022 – January 6, 2023: Luminaries

This mesmerizing installation is a holiday tradition, featuring a canopy of colorful lights emanating from hundreds of suspended lanterns. Luminaries was created by the LAB at Rockwell Group for Brookfield Place, inspired by the season’s traditions of sharing, giving, and community.

Touchless wishing stations on the ground allow visitors to send a motion-activated ‘wish’ into the canopy of lanterns above, prompting a magical display of lights and colors.

Maestro returns for a second year as an interactive experience that invites guests to conduct their own symphony with Luminaries’ canopy of lanterns. Leveraging skeletal tracking technology, Maestro allows you to show off your creativity and display your own unique light show in unison with holiday music.

For every interaction at Luminaries, Brookfield Place will donate $1, up to $25,000 to Outreach, which offers high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health services for youth and adults in NYC and on Long Island struggling with substance and alcohol abuse.

At the top of every hour, Luminaries will display a light show featuring a selection of music set to the following  holiday classic songs:

  • Winter Wonderland by Michael Bublé
  • Silver Bells by Tony Bennett
  • Carol of the Bells by The Bird and The Bee
  • Let It Snow by Pentatonix
