This Saturday, The Conscious Planet Save Soil Global Movement is hosting a walkathon in Battery Park City from 12pm to 3pm, along with 60 other US cities. The movement’s walkathon aims to raise awareness of the crucial role soil health has in climate change remediation and in global agriculture.
Conscious Planet is an effort to raise human consciousness and align human activity to support nature and all life on our planet. Save Soil is a global movement addressing the soil crisis by bringing together people around the world to stand up for soil health and support leaders of all nations to implement policies and actions to increase the organic content in cultivable soil.
The walkathon is hosted by the Isha Foundation, an international, not-for-profit organization that contributes to the Save Soil Movement. The foundation aims to raise human consciousness and foster global harmony through individual transformation.
Starting at Pier A at Battery Park, the organizers anticipate about 500 people to walk the 1.8-mile walkathon. The Save Soil Movement also promotes green space in Battery Park City.
According to walkathon organizers, participants should plan to bring a reusable water bottle, snacks, hats, comfortable shoes, and a raincoat or umbrella. Attendees should also bring Bluetooth speakers to play music, and water supplies will be provided.
The walkathon comes at a time when 52% of agricultural soils are already degraded according to Conscious Planet. Additionally, by 2045, it is expected that 40% less food will be produced than what is being cultivated currently.
The Save Soil movement was founded by Sadhguru, a yogi, mystic and visionary. For three decades, Sadhguru has shed light on the importance of soil and the threat of soil extinction.
Conscious Planet emphasizes that isolated individual actions are no longer sufficient to solve the soil crisis. Therefore, large group actions, like the walkathon, are key to helping remediate the global soil extinction issue.
