The New Lamborghini Urus SUV

When you think of Lamborghini, a sport utility vehicle probably isn’t the first image to pop into your head. After the appearance of the 2018 Lamborghini Urus, it will most likely still not be the first image to pop into your head, but it is a preliminary step in that direction. With off-road features, an interior full of the latest tech and some distinct characteristics that are uniquely Lamborghini, the Urus makes an attempt to carve out its own space in the luxury SUV market.

Lamborghini Urus Sliding Through Dirt

Sporting a 650hp V8 bi-turbo engine, the Urus has plenty of get-up-and-go, and it also has all of the racing specs you need to have a good time on the track and put up consistently quick lap times. However, if you find yourself cruising down 10th Avenue more often than on the Nurburgring, its high-performance output may be a bit of opportunity loss.  The interior is distinctly a product of the manufacturer, with those stylish Italian touches, sharp edges and beautiful materials glistening at every corner. The infotainment system sports two touchscreens, three HD displays and 3D surround sound so you can blast Pavarotti to your heart’s content while tackling traffic jams.

If you’re heading out of town for some adventure, the Urus will be able to keep up. This new addition to the luxury SUV category has three off-road modes: NEVE, TERRA and SABBIA. These modes are for a range of surfaces and traction conditions to keep your ride comfortable, even in some pretty harsh conditions. While not as rough-and-tumble as some of the other vehicles in this category (i.e. Range Rovers, etc.), it can plow through sand dunes and keep its legs underneath it on a slippery corner at high speed, certainly making the Urus worth its salt and deserving of the sport utility title.

Lamborghini Urus in Black Driving Down Street

While the interior absolutely screams Lamborghini, the exterior is a bit more cryptic in its representation of this legendary automobile manufacturer. It has sharp lines, aggressive styling and a modern,honeycomb-style grill, but it doesn’t particularly look like a Lamborghini. It’s round, and it looks – well – a bit too regular to sit beside the Aventador and Huracan as a family member.

The Urus is a step in a new direction. While the exterior does fall a bit flat, the folks at Lamborghini have manufactured a fun, functional and admittedly luxurious SUV that does everything it advertises as advertised. What more can you ask for?

New York City Ranks in Top 10 Places to Live for Millennials

All New Yorkers know that you can’t knock the Big Apple – now it’s backed by data. Nestpick, a Berlin-based search engine for furnished apartments, has conducted and released its second annual study of the top places in the world to live for millennials, in which New York City placed at #8.

Nestpicker Millennial Study
Study by Nestpick

This study included several criteria under four basic umbrellas: the business ecosystem, “the essentials”, openness and recreational opportunity. Nestpick examined 110 cities around the world under the lens of these specific subjects, broken down into smaller individual categories. For example, a city’s “business ecosystem” score is combined from its scores in employment, startup environment and tourism, and ”the essentials” are broken down into housing, food, transport and several other categories. Categories were rated on a scale between 1-10, then weighed against one another for the final listing.

New York City Skyline

This 2018 study built upon a similar study from Nestpick conducted in 2017, and added 10 more locations. Ömer Kücükdere, the Managing Director of Nestpick, stresses the importance of adapting to the Millennial generation for worldwide economic success. “Millennials grew up in a shrinking world, where the internet opened doors their parents never could have dreamed of, and budget airlines made those avenues real possibilities. It’s now possible to live and work anywhere in the world, and these opportunities are shaping how our planet will look to future generations,” he notes.

New York City not only placed in the top 10 cities worldwide for Millennials – it placed highest on the list of cities in the US for them. But what does that mean for our neck of the woods? If nothing else, it puts the NYC at the center of the action for the next wave of innovations in business, technology and how we live our daily lives.

With the use of a technology known as Dash Charge, you no longer need to charge your phone overnight. Simply pop it in for half an hour and you’ll have enough power for the whole day.

Dash Charge offers a shift in power management within your device and re-routes it from the handset to the adapter to keep your phone cooler, as it charges. The 3,300 mAh battery also lasts up to 20 percent longer than the company’s previous product, the OnePlus 3T.

Thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform, the technical performance is vastly improved. OnePlus 5 draws up to 40% less power and can run numerous apps in the background without slowing down your phone.

The new smartphone also claims to feature the highest resolution dual-camera system available on the market, with a tailor-made 16MP sensor supported by a 20MP sensor. The telephoto lens can accurately determine the distance between the object and the sensor, the camera aperture of f/1.7 provides faster snaps and improves the overall image stabilization.

Initially, the OnePlus 5 was offered in a drop sale to customers who were given a special code during the product keynote event, as well as in one-day pop-up stores in New York and various locations in Europe including London, Paris and Amsterdam.

Interestingly enough, the OnePlus 5 has arrived just ahead of Apple’s 10-year anniversary for the launch of the first iPhone, which will be celebrated by the tech giant tomorrow.

Online sales for opened yesterday with two options to choose from: the Midnight Black with 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage, priced at $539.00 and the Slate Gray, which offers 6GB RAM and 64GB storage at $479.00.
