Olivia Palermo Unveils Her Own Fashion Line

All heads turn: Olivia Palermo has entered the fashion scene. At 33, the socialite, influencer, and former guest judge on Project Runway has added a new title to top the list: founder and designer of her eponymous fashion label. The style is classic, vibrant, and polished, bold, and feminine. Her recent SS20 photoshoot captures her collection, inspired by her own closet and love for layered mix-and-matching.

Palermo is no novice to fashion and influence–her long-running lifestyle website can tell you that. Her innate sense of style has attracted several design collaborations in the past, including Nordstrom, Karl Lagerfeld, and the Banana Republic, but this is her first solo project. “It’s something I have always thought to do,” she told InStyle in an interview before the launch. “It was just a matter of when timing was right. I think after ten years, working on enough collaborations, my brand is changing and going into the next phase.”

That next phase will include a Spring Summer drop, with 84 pieces, which will be available on her website, as well as at Saks Fifth Avenue, with prices ranging from $275-$1,595. She has planned this season’s pieces alongside pre-fall and fall, she says, to set the tone for what the brand would become.

The shoot itself took place downtown, in Tribeca and the Financial District. Friend of the magazine David Cotteblanche joined stylist Schanel Bakkouche and others showing off the spiritual connection between the classic cool of the Olivia Palermo collection and the downtown neighborhoods where the designer spent a lot of her time. Cotteblanche, who has worked with Yohji Yamamoto, Christian Dior, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, and Nicole Miller, was impressed. “Working with Olivia Palermo was one of the best experiences of my career,” said Cotteblanche, “Olivia is one of the best fashion influencers, and I love her new collection. It represents her personal style and energy: classy and chic.”

David Cotteblanche: “For (Olivia Palermo’s) hair, I followed her favorite soft romantic style to create her signature soft wave look. I used Fekkai Brilliant Gloss Multi-Tasker on dry hair to protect against the heat from my 1-inch curly iron. For finishing I used Fekkai Full Blown Volume Dry Texturizing Spray.” Photo courtesy of Olivia Palermo

The shoot’s stylist, Bakkouche, is a frequent collaborator with Palermo, credited on many of her photoshoots. Stylist, Fashion Editor, and Creative Director, Bakkouche splits her time between Paris and NYC.  She has enjoyed tenures at both French and American Vogue Magazine. Since then, Schanel has led a wide range of creative projects, both digital and print, with a strong emphasis in fashion, for various publications and luxury brands. She routinely works and collaborates with top industry photographers, editors, and creatives.

Olivia Palermo’s collection is available online as well as at Saks Fifth Avenue and other specialty retailers. There are plans to add accessories, as well as a men’s line going forward, so stay tuned.

Tehora Online: A Modest Dress Marketplace

Photos courtesy of Annaël Assouline and Tehora Online

Fashion should be an artform without boundaries. You can see, feel, smell, and even hear fashion–even if you’ve never worn heels, you’ve heard the power of confident heels clacking across a room. Fashion is pan-cultural and should match any aesthetic.

This week, Annaël Assouline launched Tehora Online, an online marketplace of womenswear dedicated to covered fashion. Models show off long-sleeve, flowing dresses off all prints and patterns, as well as jewelry, accessories, and more. The name Tehora comes from the Hebrew word טהורה, which means “pure.”

The inspiration for the company came from founder Assouline’s personal experience. “I wanted to turn this limiting, time-consuming and somehow frustrating shopping experience,” she says, “into an exciting and vibrant fashion journey, with no compromise on personal style.” Tehora Online is based in Paris, but the website is international: it’s available in both French and English. It will showcase international designers, small productions, conscious fashion, and emerging brands and labels. “Our point of view on beauty and fashion is about encouraging natural beauty, working on Inside and out, revealing oneself, celebrate differences, and embrace diversity.”

Modest dress, Tehora Online seems to say, is not a rejection of fashion, or a small niche. It is for millions of fashion-friendly women who feel excluded from trends because of certain dress restrictions. The target audience is bourgeois-bohème and globetrotters inspired, for the traditional and sophisticated women. Women who want to express themselves even in long sleeves, or floor-length dresses.

Tehora Online hopes to speak to these women, whatever their reasons, in a way that other fashion brands have failed to do in the past. Of course, the website is for more than those who dress modestly as a lifestyle. Check it out and see what speaks to you.

The evening was off to a wild start with that one wave. Each year the stories coming from this event are even more exciting than the year before. A Romantic real French soiree with music, dancing, lots of photo ops and even a wedding proposal.

“Diner en Blanc takes over Governors Island”

Dîner in Blanc is one of 80 cities hosting the infamous worldwide event. It is produced by local partners (Linda Davis, Christine Tripoli, and Peter Kohlmann) along with Dîner en Blanc International. This incredible, well organized, all the way to the smallest detail was founded by Aymeric Pasquier and Sandi Safi. Pasquier is the son of François Pasquier, who started the phenomenon in Paris, as a way to reunite old friends after living abroad.

Dîner en Blanc Paris Celebrates 30th Anniversary

This summer, the Dîner en Blanc Paris is no longer exclusive to Parisians, as they are extending the guest list to anyone around the world. On the occasion of the event’s 30th anniversary, guests are invited from near and far to dine in the City of Lights at a secret locale with nearly twenty thousand other people.

The Dîner en Blanc was started in 1988 by François Pasquier and has grown to be a worldwide event. New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney are just a few of the cities hosting the Dîner en Blanc as well. Four years after the founding, Pasquier wanted to bring his all-white dinner party to Pont des Arts in the heart of Paris. They knew that the local authorities wouldn’t allow this, so they kept the location a secret until the very last minute.

Thus began the tradition of having a fabulous party in the middle of the city, but withholding arguably the most important piece of information. This year, for its 30th anniversary, Pasquier said: “In total, there will be between 20,000 and 30,000 in attendance. There will be some thirty orchestras, as Le Dîner en Blanc includes numerous musicians. For the rest, I can’t give anything else away. The event has to maintain an element of mystery!”

The famous event has been invitation only. This year Dîner en Blanc Paris opened a waitlist for their event on June 3, 2018, available online now. Join thousands of others and enjoy the excitement of this once in a lifetime, extravagant gourmet dining experience to celebrate the big anniversary of Dîner en Blanc, in the exact city it was founded. To emphasize the landmark of inviting people from all over the world, the event exemplifies communal table style. Attendees will have the chance to meet people from every corner of the globe. Dîner en Blanc is the most popular international social gathering.

Here’s Why You Should Travel To Europe This Summer

Ah, Paris. We’ve been longing to visit the heart of Europe in the summertime when the air is sweet with cherry blossoms and excitement (and the weather is actually warm!). We also wouldn’t mind taking a hop, skip and a jump over to Italy to find out what ‘authentic’ pizza tastes like (probably nothing our favorite Hawaiian from Ray’s!). Spain, too. …Maybe we should just book a month-long cruise around the Mediterranean.

All budgeting jargon aside, summer is certainly the best time to visit Europe because of the relatively moderate weather. Temperatures in most places remain in the mid to upper 80s throughout the season, with certain countries like Spain, seeing several consecutive days of 100+ degree weather. For those of you that dislike strong summer heat, we suggest heading to Luxembourg or Finland, where temperatures rarely break 80 degrees. Take note of this extra bonus when heading to Finland: in some parts of the country, July and August never experience nighttime; the sun simply doesn’t set. If you’re into the whole ‘up all night’ thing a la One Direction, this is the place for you.

No matter where you decide to go, we urge you to cash in those vacation days you’ve been stockpiling and head over the pond for a fabulous (and much deserved) get away….thank us later!
