Pisterzi: Cutting Through the Chaff

Pisterzi Italian Grooming Art changes the way New York men look at grooming with a unique approach to the barbershop experience.

An unlikely shelter hides in the heart of downtown. Freezing winds, erratic snows, and city stress fall away in Pisterzi Italian Grooming Art’s latest Atelier, an authentic Italian barbershop in SOHO that brings new levels to the barbershop experience. Italian Master Barber Gian Antonio Pisterzi, the company’s founder, created Pisterzi Italian Grooming Art to make his own mark with an Italian style unique to the city with locations in Milan and NYC. His newest location, at 367 W Broadway, is the first to match with the colors and textures of his brand, a space that he can claim as his own. The new space embraces an intimate boutique feel of a sanctuary, which Pisterzi aims to enhance with the shop’s two private rooms where clients can enjoy one-on-one services and get pampered by the expert hands of Pisterzi barbers. Pisterzi wants to create a bubble that lets both parties focus on the barbershop experience, and to let all else fall to the wayside.

“The grooming market has grown in the past years” says Gian Antonio Pisterzi. “More men are now taking time for themselves and do not look for a simple haircut anymore. Throughout my experience, I came to know and understand better the desires and needs of customers and I have been trying to translate them into the services we provide at the ateliers. Opening a second location in the Big Apple was a step that I was longing to take, and doing it in the energetic heart of New York, felt like the right choice to make.”

Pisterzi Italian Grooming Art has also launched a new line of high-end products, which includes gels, serums, conditioners for beard and hair, cosmetics with multiple functions, and more specific treatments. The launch will also include three fragrances entirely created and produced in Italy. Born within an elegant and sophisticated Italian lifestyle, the products will also be sustainable: they will use 100% recycled paper, post-consumer aluminum, and will have reusable, refillable containers.

Pisterzi is a graduate of the prestigious Steiner Academy in London and a beholder of extensive experience as an international Master Barber in luxury brands such as Dolce & Gabbana and Acqua di Parma. Just recently, he added to his board Andrea Pirlo, the Internationally renowned soccer champion. Pirlo, who is a big aficionado of cosmetic products for personal care and well-being, faces this new challenge with enthusiasm: “I had the pleasure of personally meeting Gian Antonio Pisterzi in New York and I was struck by the culture expressed by his know-how and unique care that Barberia Pisterzi offers to its customers. I immediately wished I could be the protagonist of this enterprise which, today, evolves through a range of high-level products and a restyling of the barbershops in a sustainable way.”

Pisterzi’s other NYC atelier is located at Cipriani Club 55 in Wall Street. Check out their website for more.

The Three Best-Looking Waterproof Shoes to Get You Through Spring

With warmer weather comes the rain, and those clunky winter boots that got you through the winter can be a little too insulated for the rainy days of spring and early summer. The problem with rainboots is that they are often only that: rain boots. Once you get out of the rain they’re clunky and ugly and heavy. Here are three stylish and waterproof shoes to help you conquer the puddles without looking like a deep-sea fisherman this spring:

Vans Waterproof Shoe
Vans.com

  1. The Vans Sk8-Hi MTE

The Vans Sk8-Hi sneaker is an institution. From skaters and punks to artists and average Joes and Janes, the Sk8-Hi is a simple, solid classic that reminds us of a simpler time. And now, you can take on the mountains with them. With its tagline, “Designed for the elements,” Vans has brought us a twist on their classic shoe that combines durable, waterproof uppers with a heat retention layer to keep out the chill.

Tretorn Gill Waterproof Shoe

2. Tretorn Gill

Tretorn is a staple in high-end footwear, and has long been praised in their waterproof offerings. Their Gill rainboot offers the hard to achieve combination of a boot that’s completely waterproof that also doesn’t make you look like you’re about to go fishing. The Gill boot features a rubber and coated canvas outer with a high-performance Eco-Ortholite sock on the inside for dryness and comfort you can count on.

Adidas Terrex Waterproof Shoes

3. Adidas Terrex Agravic GTX

If you can count on any brand to produce a great athletic shoe that you can take to the streets, it’s Adidas, and their Terrex collection has been revered by trail runners and hikers alike. The Agravic GTX is touted as a waterproof trail running shoe to get you through the hills and tough terrain without a hitch, but that support, water-resistance and athletic style looks just as good stomping through puddles down 10th Avenue.

Throwing it Back with Our Favorite Vintage-Inspired Watches from Baselworld 2018

The floor of Baselworld 2018 ticked and tocked with some of the most advanced, futuristic watches that money can buy, but there was also no shortage of the tried-and-true workhorses inspired by styles and models that have been serving their wearers for decades. Designers showcased the best of their best of their new creations at this industry-imperative event. Here are some of the vintage-inspired timepieces from Baselworld 2018 that caught our eye:

Breitling Super 8 Watch from Baselworld 2018

Breitling Navitimer Super 8

Many vintage timepieces are inspired by a similar, or even nearly identical piece from the designer’s history – not the Navitimer Super 8. This bold watch is based on the World War II-era Reference 637 stopwatch, which bombers and pilots would strap to their legs. This stopwatch featured a top crown for easy activation and was developed by Breitling’s Huit Aviation Department. It’s updated, wrist-worn counterpart features a 46mm case, the option of titanium or stainless steel, and the model pictured appropriately includes a brown NATO strap.

BR V1-92 Racing Bird Watch from Baselworld 2018

Bell & Ross Vintage BRV1-92 Racing Bird

Bell & Ross, known for their bold mix of practical and simplistic timepieces, takes us back with their new BRV1-92 Racing Bird. Switching it up from their usual absence of white faces, B&R’s limited 999-piece BRV1-92 Racing Bird Made a statement on the floor of Baselworld 2018 with its bold numerals, bare face and trendy 60s-inspired calfskin strap in navy blue with orange sides.

Omega Seamaster Small Seconds from Baselworld 2018

Omega Seamaster 1948 Small Seconds

Taken from their original Seamaster line manufactured for the servicemen of the British Ministry of Defense, the new Seamaster 1948 Small Seconds watch was a showcase of both Omega’s traditional styling and their futuristic technology. The 38mm case of this 70th-anniversary piece contains a Swiss-made, METAS-certified Omega movement with anti-magnetic properties for lasting, pinpoint accuracy. The Seamaster 1948 Small Seconds features a secondary dial at the six o’clock and a mix of bold numeral and greek key indicators.

Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse Rose Gold from Baselworld 2018

Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse in Rose Gold

Manufactured to commemorate their original 1968 Golden Ellipse, this larger-format version touts an elegant design that made it a standout piece at 2018’s Baselworld convention. With 18K gold stylings, hand-stitched alligator belt and a crown with an onset Onyx, Patek Philippe celebrated this heritage timepiece’s 50th birthday with understated luxury.

Versace Go Bold with Their New V-Circle Tribute Edition Watch Collection

When you think Versace, the first adjectives that pop into your head will not likely include “reserved,” or “quiet.” Even so, with their new throwback collection of V-Circle Tribute Edition timepieces, Versace re-ups on their larger-than-life aesthetic with an elegant, streamlined design dominated by fierce baroque stylings.

Versace V-Circle Tribute Edition Watch Black

This Tribute Edition watch is taken from Versace’s established V-Circle collection, which is one of the designers more classic and timeless offerings, and combined with one of the brand’s most elusive prints. The face of this collection hearkens back to the simplistic V-Circle design, with Greek keys, a Medusa head at the 12 o’clock marker and a subtle, intertwined”V” pattern. This luxurious, but toned-down dial is sharply contrasted with Versace’s “wild baroque” print featured on the strap, which debuted in the designer’s SS/1992 collection. Classic French imagery floats above a bold animal print for a head-turning timepiece that will outshine most, if not all of its peers on sheer visibility alone.

Versace V-Circle Tribute Edition Watch Both colors

There are two models in this collection, one in black and one in white, with corresponding print on the calf leather straps. The Versace V-Circle Tribute Edition watches operate on a Swiss-made quartz mechanism and feature either silver or IP yellow gold cases that measure at 38mm. If you plan on taking this piece into the water, you can rest assured that it’s water resistant up to 50 meters.
