Louis Vuitton Wants To Keep It Classic

Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami prepare to end their 12 year partnership by the end of this month.

The collaboration between Murakami and the French luxury brand unveiled its multicolor monogram in 2003 under the direction of Fashion giant, Marc Jacobs. However, when designer, Nicolas Ghesquiere, became Louis Vuitton’s Creative Director in 2013 he had other plans. A sales associate from Louis Vuitton Saks Fifth Avenue shop told WWD,  the collection “leaving stores at the end of July, forever.” With just four days left in the month, the end of this color era is near.

Although it may be difficult to mourn the end of popular collection of bag once worn by celebrities Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, and Naomi Campbell, Ghesquiere is looking forward into new monograms for the Fall/Winter 2015-2016 to embody a classic look.

Louis Vuitton Reinterpreted: The Icon and The Iconoclasts

Louis Vuitton has done something we never would have imagined. For their 160th anniversary, the fashion house gathered six luminaries from the world of art, fashion and design — namely Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin, Frank Gehry, Rei Kawakubo, Cindy Sherman and Apple’s Marc Newson, to reinterpret the classic LV monogram.

Their job was to reinterpret the LV monogram as they wanted to create a special collection representing their personal style in each of the pieces they designed. The result? Everything we have ever dreamed of!

In the collection, The Icon and the Iconoclasts, Karl Lagerfeld worked to match luxury and sports by creating boxing gloves and a punching bag. Christian Louboutin had to find a way to include his trademark, the red soles, somewhere in the collection and that can be seen in the red details throughout the line.

The collection also includes a redesign of the iconic trunk by Cindy Sherman, a sheep fur backpack by Marc Newson, and a bag full of geometrical holes by Rei Kawakubo. The architect Frank Gehry designed a classic bag that reflects a perfect mix between Louis Vuitton and his personal lines.

The launch date is November 7th in New York City. The super exclusive accessories will cost between $2,725 and $5,450. A collection with these masterminds behind it? It’s a must-have!

Check out some of the photos and videos for The Icon and The Iconoclasts here!

Louis Vuitton In Charge Of Keeping The World Cup Intact

Wc_2_800_x_600

Louis Vuitton FIFA World Cup 2014 travelling case.

This edition of the World Cup has unleashed a whirlwind of excitement and surprises. And this just in: FIFA and Louis Vuitton are partners in design once again. The French Luxury House has announced their making of the one-of-a-kind hard cornered case that will be carrying the 2014’s Gold World Cup. The trophy measures 36 cm in height, weighs 6,175 kg and is made of solid 18-carat gold with a base of malachite. That said, perhaps it is no surprise that FIFA would trust the French fashion house with such invaluable hardware for a second consecutive time.

The World Cup’s case has been designed and handcrafted in Vuitton’s historic Asnières workshop. The workshop has also produced many other unique trophy cases in its 150 years of existence, including that of the America’s Cup, dating back to 1851.

The travelling case, surrounded by LV’s iconic monogram, will be officially introduced on July 13th by the end of the Final game held at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Gisele Bündchen will serve as escort for the cup until it reaches the stadium on Sunday and is handed to the captain of the winning team. The question is, which captain will that be?
