Elie Hirschfeld Brokers Relationship Between Argentinian and American Presidents

Argentinian President Mauricio Macri and Elie Hirschfeld were partners in the redevelopment of Riverside South

This week Macri was invited to The White House to meet with President Donald Trump for vital trade talks, prompting the Commander-in-Chief to comment that the two countries will be “great friends, better than ever before!”

It was Elie Hirschfeld who introduced the two men decades ago after Macri had partnered with Hirschfeld Properties in the redevelopment of Penn Yards from raw rail and industrial to the residential mixed use haven that is the renamed Riverside South area of today.

Argentinian President Mauricio Macri.

Mauricio was a visionary then and remains so today,” said. “We turned that property around together. He was a very popular and successful businessman and those traits have served him well in his current status as statesman.”

“My offices at the time were located in Trump Tower. I was happy to be able to introduce him to Donald.”

Elie Hirschfeld and Trump worked with President Macri as partners in the 1980s.

Trump later purchased the Macri share of the development in 1985 and Hirschfeld Properties finished the project with the future president.

“That relationship having endured will now play a vital part of diplomatic and trade relations with Argentina and help our country develop strong economic partnerships in Argentina,” Elie Hirschfeld remarked.

“And it all started right here in New York.”

Elie Hirschfeld’s Comments Illuminate New York City Titans of Business Panel

Hirschfeld Properties’ spectacular Riverside South development is a model of Manhattan real estate luxury.

Renowned New York developer Elie Hirschfeld offered informed insights on the city’s luxury real estate rental and buyers’ market at the New York City Titans of Business panel on April 22 at the Core Club in Midtown.

Elie Hirschfeld pointed out that while there are great customer bases in the foreign and broader American markets, New York business remains rooted in the local market.

“If the local buyer/renter disappears, we will not be saved by any foreign region,” said the iconic New York real estate luminary.

“First, the Metro New York City market; second, the American market, and only last, can we count on the foreign consumer.”

Hirschfeld, second from right, led a panel of top New York developers.

Elie Hirschfeld‘s comments during a panel which included such prominent New York business names as real estate entrepreneur, Don Peebles, Billy Macklowe, founder of Macklowe Properties, developer, Mitchell Moinian, and Michael Stern, CEO of the JDS Development Group.

Elie Hirschfeld is the President of Hirschfeld Properties which has developed such visionary projects as luxury residential towers Park Avenue Plaza, The Gotham and The Exchange, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Hotel Pennsylvania, New York’s first open-air parking garages, Manhattan Mall and the Sports Club LA Building.

His long record of accomplishment in the field gave him a particularly insightful perspective on the topic of the workings luxury real estate market in New York City.

“We have an inventory of luxury free market rentals in Tribeca, the Village, Sutton Place, Upper East side and other areas throughout the City,” he revealed.

“As the free market apartments come up for renewal we explore the luxury for sale market against the luxury for rent market. This helps us understand how a prospective renter or the renewal of the current renter might proceed themselves in the market in the alternatives of them buying or them renting.”

And while he remains committed to the local market as his primary focus, Elie Hirschfeld does not dismiss the importance of foreign capital to the industry.

“As for foreign markets, it is no longer primarily, China, but DOES continue to be Asian, Indian, and the Middle East,” he pointed out.

“There is fair amount of money migrating under radar and freely from Russia, Ukraine, the Stans (Kazakstan, Uzbekistan), the Middle East and Asia.”

Elie Hirschfeld‘s influence and insights into the New York real estate market are well known and heavily sought by peers who include President Donald Trump who is both a friend and business partner.

“We worked closely with Mr. Hirschfeld and their team who ensured that he would be able to provide the best accommodations for TS to offer up a premier facility for its clients.”

The celebrated real estate mogul, philanthropist, athlete and patron of the arts has had a significant hand in the development and re-purposing of many prominent city properties including Riverside South, The Grand Sutton, Park Avenue Court, The Hotel Pennsylvania and The Exchange Tower.

But Hirschfeld’s focus has always extended far beyond any single project. His visionary collaborations with such prominent partners as Silverstein Properties, The Zeckendorf Organization, The Donald Trump Organization and others have yielded some of the more spectacular projects in the history of the city.

Game-changing Hirschfeld projects have included The Sports Club/LA, a completely vertical sports club, Manhattan Mall, one of the first vertical shopping malls in NYC, and New York’s first open-air parking garage.

And while his business accomplishments are many, it may be his seemingly endless charitable endeavors that may be his most lasting legacy. He launched the Hirschfeld Foundation to channel his philanthropic efforts in support of education, healthcare, athletics and Jewish causes.

EH, Dannon Krakow-1-27-14a
Hirschfeld’s ongoing efforts to promote awareness of Jewish history and culture are demonstrated in his presence with Israeli Knesset Minister Dany Dannon at the Holocaust Memorial dedication in Poland last January.

“My personal history of giving began when I was a student at Brown University,” Hirschfeld says. “I became President of Brown’s Hillel and was elected President of my Senior Class. I was inspired by both Brown and Hillel to do more for others and to seek to improve the world. I went on to support numerous educational institutions, hospitals, Jewish organizations, and other non-profit groups. I created the Hirschfeld Foundation to expand my personal efforts.”

This event provides the many people Hirschfeld has touched the opportunity to show how much those efforts have meant.
