Fashionable, Practical Beachwear for This Summer

Let’s face it, Downtowners, there’s nothing worse than planning a perfect day at the beach, only to realize you picked the wrong shoes to wear, once your feet are scorching on the sand. That cute beach tote of yours is now most likely full of sand, as well (sand + saltwater + iPhones do not mix well!). Us beach lovers here at Downtown Magazine have curated a list for you, featuring our favorite items from SeaStar Beachwear, in order to help you all go to the beach in comfort and style!

Seafarer Slingback: Womens White with Navy Elastic

These babies are PERFECT for any beach day. Espadrilles are a summer classic, and these blue and white sandals give the perfect nautical look. We love the fun twist that SeaStar does with these espadrilles, in particular – you will stand out on the sands wearing these unique shoes. What’s great about these sandals is that they’re water-friendly, so don’t be afraid to dip your toes in the ocean in these! The reason that we love these shoes the most is that they’re so cute while being super resilient and beach friendly, and best of all, you don’t have to worry about burning your feet on the hot sand! If you’re looking for a trendy, fashionable, yet practical shoe for the beach, we’ve found the perfect match for you.

Beachcomber Espadrille: Women’s Platinum

This summer season is all about the metallics, and these shoes have won over our hearts. These silver metallic, water-friendly espadrilles are so in style, whilst simultaneously being ever-so-timeless. What’s great about these shoes is that they will go with any look, and they would look so cute on, or off, the sands.

Beachcomber Espadrille: Mens Dark Navy

Don’t worry, guys; we’ve got you covered as well! This men’s beach shoe is so classic and dapper for any guy with a love for the sands. With its water-friendly materials and classic nautical look, you cannot go wrong! We particularly love this shoe in navy, but SeaStar offers a variety of colors to match all your fave swim trunks.

Beachcomber Espadrille: Kids White

Looking to protect your little tot’s toes from the sands, as well? These little white espadrilles would look so adorable on any little boy or girl. We love these shoes because not only are they water-friendly, but they are a fashionable and practical choice for your child – not something you find every day! Your child will dazzle the sands in these cute little beach shoes.

Voyager Tote; Dark Navy

This nautical, navy tote is the essence of fashion and practicality. You truly cannot go wrong with this large and in charge tote, which is water-resistant, super lightweight (it even floats!), and chic. Its zip closure will protect your belongings from the sands, and you won’t break your back trying to lug around a heavy beach bag all day. This tote is a true gem from SeaStar.

Women’s Summer Shoe Guide

Sweet summertime is here and the summer fashion is bright with potential. Choosing an outfit is all fun and games, but at the end of the day, shoes can make or break it.

Shoe styles are infinite. There are so many different shapes and styles and colors perfect for any outfit, but it can be so overwhelming. Summertime offers the opportunity to explore new trends and mix and match styles. The lace-up trend is popular, and adding it to wedges, sandals, espadrilles, etc. is so easy. You can also have a classic gladiator on a platform sandal.

To make shoe shopping easier for you and happier for your closet, Downtown has put together a shoe guide of nine must-have shoes (and styles) for the summer season.

6 Fashion Trends for Summer 2017

With Memorial Day weekend behind us, summer will soon be in full swing. It’s time to ditch spring sweaters and drab denim and embrace the warmer, sunnier side of fashion. Swimsuits, sunglasses, sandals and straw hats are always summer essentials, and this year they’re sticking around.

With some help from the uber stylish fashion research app Hook, we’ve rounded up the best new fashion trends of summer 2017. Trendspotters: this one’s for you.

Simply straw

Straw has played a role in style for hundreds of years (Vincent van Gogh knew what was up when he painted this self-portrait), and it still has a place in 2017. This summer only the floppiest of hats and the slouchiest of bags will do in the way of straw accessories. This hat will keep your face protected whilst lounging, and this bag will store all your necessaries for a perfect day at the beach.

Bold sunglasses

Big and bold sunnies are having a moment, so this summer you’ll want to throw some seriously stylish shade with a loud pair of sunglasses. A colorful frame, creative shape or tinted lens will add a shout to your look, and keep the rays off your face at the same time. There’s nothing like a sleek pair of shades for equal parts style and functionality.

One pieces

Good news for all those in favor of the modest-is-the-hottest policy: one pieces are stealing the spotlight from bikinis. For the first time in years, one pieces are outselling two pieces, according to analytics from Hook. Cue the sighs of relief. Discover new ways to cover with one piece swimwear from your favorite brands, or with one of these mod looks from Anthropologie, J.Crew, Tory Burch and Kate Spade.

Sunny dresses

Sundresses are nothing new, but recent years have gifted us with the ever-chic off-the-shoulder trend. The typical characteristics of a sundress (colorful, floralgraphic prints, flowy) pair beautifully with a sassy off-the-shoulder cut.

Espadrilles

Your favorite stitched and braided canvas shoe is back. This season brings a slew of new ways to rock the espadrille, which was originally coined for its use of the esparto grass native to north Africa. So channel your inner safari seeker and slip on one of these comfortable pairs.

Kids swim

Who says your tike can’t rock these summer trends too? Colorful swimwear with bold prints and patterns are a must-buy for children this summer. Trunks, two pieces, one pieces, rash guards and coverups are all available in the season’s best shades and styles.
