We are sorry it took us this long to visit Union Fare, because the bakery in this latest sprawling gastro-hall is doing magical things with croissants! While we are partial to the matcha cream stuffed croissants, most people are losing their minds over the stuffed birthday cake and red velvet versions. Are they worth the hype? YES! Oh, and there is a candycane croissant, special for the holidays. Better come down here fast before we eat them all!

When the weather is cold we tend to crave foods from those parts of the world that know real winter. East Village’s newest addition N’eat offers curated, elegant Nordic dishes with in season ingredients in a casual setting. We loved the braised short rib with berries and marrow, the fried turbot with cauliflower and tarragon and the poached egg yolk with Brussel sprouts and gammel knas. But, the real treat is the strangely refreshing dessert of Icelandic skyr yogurt, dill, cucumber, and white chocolate.

Lead by composer and sound artist, Phil Kline, the night will be far from silent as hundreds descend on Washington Square Park for the annual Unsilent Night. Jimmy Rooftop Bar

On the 18th floor of the James Hotel in Soho, a certain kind of oasis exists. The venue not only provides breathtaking views of the city but also comfortable seating beside a pool. The bar serves specialty cocktails and food prepared by the David Burke Kitchen. The menu serves salty as well as sweet snacks such as Parmesan fries and peanut butter candy bar bites starting at $10. Jimmy also has indoor seating next to a fireplace, perfect for the colder hours of the night.

Gallow Green

The Gallow Green is located above the McKittrick Hotel near Chelsea. This beautiful rooftop is draped with vines, flowers and small trees. Candles and twinkling lights adorn wooden tables and benches creating an intimate and cozy ambiance. On weekends, there is live music as well as a $45 unlimited brunch buffet special that serves delicacies such as fresh cinnamon rolls and apple wood smoked bacon. The Gallow Green is a perfect place to spend a few hours of tranquility above the bustling chaos of New York City.

The Brass Monkey

The Brass Monkey has been around since 2004 and is a favorite destination for many New Yorkers. Three bars are spread out between two floors and serve over 100 different types of beer as well as handcrafted cocktails and wine. The rooftop of The Brass Monkey displays a gorgeous view of the Hudson River and is decorated with flowers and plants to generate a comfortable and relaxing feel. The venue also serves homey and delicious snacks and entrées to accompany the drinks.

230 Fifth

230 5th Ave, New York, NY 10001

230 Fifth is primarily a bar, yet food is served during weeknights as well as brunch on weekends. The rooftop at 250 Fifth is the largest in all of New York City and has outdoor seating as well as open space for dancing. The venue is partially heated during the cooler hours of the night and palm trees provide shade during the day. 230 Fifth is a great place to go if you want a late night, as the venue is open Monday through Fridays from 4pm to 4am.
