sarah-jessica-parker-2-600

WeTheAdorned will be introducing their membership-based e-comm fashion destination, with a big boost from Sarah Jessica Parker.

The actress who recently launched her own line of shoes, will help curate the online jewelry collection, which will feature pieces designed for the brand, by such designers as Pamela Love Lulu Frost, Paige Novick and Erickson Beamon.

Both premium and non-premium memberships will be offered when the site launches in Spring, but early registration is now available. The founders of the site, Tim McElwee and Cyia Batten, raised money for their latest venture through the help of Kickstarter in last year.

Featuring prices between $50 and $1,000, McElwee and Batten hope to take over the market space between high-end jewelers like Tiffany & Co. and Blue Nile and lower-priced sites like JewelMint and BaubleBar. All the designs will be manufactured in the United States.

Alexander Wang Walks His Fashion Week Show Across The Bridge To Brooklyn

Alexander Wang runway show will march all the way to Brooklyn during February’s Fashion Week.

Alexander Wang announced that he will stage his New York Fashion Week show runway show at the Brooklyn Navy Yard this season.

In past years, the designer held his shows at Pier 94 in Manhattan at 5pm on Saturday, will show his Fall ’14 collection at the Duggal Greenhouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

“We found this incredible space, and it corresponds very well to this season’s creative concept,” Wang told Women’s Wear Daily via email about the Brooklyn venue, the Duggal Greenhouse.

Wang joins Diane von Furstenberg. and Michael Kors who have each decided to take their shows away from Lincoln Center during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Alexander is also moving to a new time slot, as well as the new location—changing his show time from Saturday at 5 p.m., to 8.30 p.m.

Like Wang, von Furstenberg was looking for more creative freedom. “My decision is purely because of the anniversary year [of the wrap dress],” von Furstenburg told the New York Times. “I want to do something special.”

This season’s New York Fashion Week has generated much conversation about the major names choosing not to show at the Lincoln Center tents which some have complained have become too crowded and commercial.

Diane von Furstenberg Celebrates 40 Years of Her Iconic Wrap Dress

Last Friday night in Los Angeles, Diane von Furstenberg celebrated the 40th anniversary of her iconic wrap dress. The Wilshire May Company Building hosted the party, where the “Journey of a Dress” exhibit was revealed and a limited edition collection announced.

Diane von Furstenberg, a Belgian-born Jewish designer, started her own company in 1970 with an investment of $30,000. In 1974, after a few years of hauling suitcases of jersey dresses to department stores, she created the wrap dress. Below, at age 23, is von Furstenberg pictured in the WWD announcement of her new design.

By 1979, her business was grossing $150 million a year in retail sales. Forty years later, Diane is still a top designer and a leader in the fashion world. She was named President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2006, and has held the position since.

She created the DvF Awards in 2010, awarding $50,000 each to four women a year who show passionate commitment to women’s causes. She and her husband, media mogul Barry Diller, are committed to a number of different philanthropic pursuits. The pair have contributed more than $35 million to the High Line, the largest single donation to a park in New York City’s history.

Her revolutionary wrap dress is a permanent piece in the collection of the Costume Institue of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Von Furstenberg’s mother, daughter, and grandaughter have all worn the dress, which, according to the designer, symbolizes “freedom, empowerment, and confidence.” Television personality Louise Roe (who scored her first job with BBC wearing a DVF creation) summed up the designer’s legacy at the Friday night opening; saying, “she’s the queen of girl power.”

“Bruce Springsteen In Focus: 1980-2012” Offers Stunning Looks Back At The Boss

Debra L. Rothenberg is not your average Jersey Girl.

She is an accomplished and award-winning photographer who has worked in a wide variety of capacities in the media, but among her most memorable accomplishments are the photos she’s taken to document the career of New Jersey’s most prized possession—Bruce Springsteen.

Since 1980, Rothenberg has taken hundreds of priceless photos of Springsteen, and the best of the best are showcased in her brand new 200-page coffee table book, Bruce Springsteen In Focus 1980-2012.

Through images of more than three decades of concert tours in national and international arenas and stadiums, as well as his many Jersey Shore club appearances at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, the Rum Runner in Sea Bright, and Cheers in Long Branch, Rothenberg has created what the Hollywood Reportercalls “the ultimate look at a man who … is ‘always grinning’ whenever he is captured in his happy place – the stage.”

The book’s release has been timed to coincide with Springsteen’s  hotly anticipated new album, High Hopes.

To celebrate the arrival of both, Rock Paper Photo will host a book signing and photo exhibit in New York City on Wednesday night at Gallery 151 in Chelsea. The exhibit will feature 276 of the most iconic photos from Rothenberg’s acclaimed book. A portion of proceeds from all book sales go to the Alzheimers Association, Parkinsons disease research, and breast cancer research.
