A former lifeguard at Riis Park, Bardo sought to develop an elegant, minimalist style line of swimwear that is New York made. She launched Bay 2 Swimwear in Nov. 2021, offering both two piece and single piece suits, ranging XS-XL. Pieces can be mixed and matched.

“The ocean has always been my happy place. I constantly found myself searching for the ideal swimsuit—one that looked great and stayed put in the waves. I love swimwear and was often disappointed by my purchases that turned out to be made of uncomfortable fabric, see through when wet, or just not conducive to activity. This search eventually led me to create Bay 2 Swimwear, a unique line inspired by my experiences living and working on the beaches of New York City and the East Coast. All of the swimsuits are designed with double lined luxe fabrics that flatter and support all body types and inspire confidence without sacrificing comfort. The suits are sustainably designed and produced in New York City.”
For the week of March 7-March 13, in support of International Women’s Day, Bay 2 will be donating 20% of proceeds from sales to Girls Inc. Foundation.
In June, Bardo will unveil Bay 2’s Summer 2022 line, that will include environmentally-friendly suits, made from recycled fabrics.

Our CEO Grace A. Capobianco with Marcia Bush of Sisley Paris.
It’s all about striking a balance between finding the right skincare regimen for your lifestyle, and “légèreté-(lightness in French), makeup that’s a second skin,” says store manager Cecile Dennis. It shouldn’t feel heavy, but give a natural look that might make one wonder if someone is even wearing makeup. For spring 2022, they’ve introduced their Phyto-Teint Nude foundation. All of Sisley Paris’s makeup is plant-based, so it is kind to your skin, without ingredients such as alcohol, that can be drying and cause irritation. It also seals in hydration and optimizes plumpness.

David Byrne's How I Learned About Non-Rational Logic exhibition runs at Pace Gallery Feb. 2-March 19.
David Byrne’s How I Learned About Non-Rational Logic exhibition runs at Pace Gallery Feb. 2-March 19.On the wall, Human Content.
David Byrne, lead singer/songwriter for The Talking Heads, and currently starring on Broadway in the smash musical American Utopia, continues to keep busy, exploring different art mediums. During the pandemic, Byrne created a series of drawings, that are featured in a new book out Feb. 16, A History of the World (in Dingbats): Drawings and Words (co-authored with Alex Kalman) . In conjunction with the book release, Pace Gallery presents a collection of Byrne’s work in a new exhibit, How I Learned About Non-Rational Logic, open Feb. 2-March 19.

The exhibit incorporates Byrne’s pandemic doodles, along with a collection of playful, thematic tree drawings from the early 2000s, and a selection of chair drawings from 2004-2007. The ‘dingbat’ doodles made during quarantine, were a means for Byrne to cope with boredom, anxiety, and isolation, offering a way to express hope, desire for connection, a bit of wicked sense of humor, and the power of community.
Of his tree drawings, Byrne has described them as ” faux science, automatic writing, self-analysis, satire, and maybe even a serious attempt at finding connections where none were to exist. And an excuse to draw plant-like forms and diagrams.”

Of his surreal chair drawings, Byrne has said, “Maybe they are portraits, maybe self-portraits, maybe portraits of my interior state. Maybe they are also possible practical furniture design. Maybe all of the above at once.”
On Monday, Feb. 7, at 7pm, Byrne with speak with documentary filmmaker John Wilson at Pace Gallery. The conversation will later be shown on HBO. Tickets to the event are sold out, but it will be live streamed. See more details about the program here: https://www.pacegallery.com/events/how-we-learned-about-non-rational-logic/.

Sapien, a new tokenized social network created by Berkeley students Ankit Bhatia and Rob Giometti in 2016, recently launched their digital network, at a large downtown bash at Cipriani 25.
Dubbed “The Sapien Nation Tribe,” they are a tokenized social network now 100,000 + plus strong, built on decentralization and privacy, utilizing ethereum blockchain technology, that protects members’ intellectual property, as well as rewards and inspires its members to create digital content. In their terms, they are “first sovereign digital nation.”
“It’s about love, it’s about making [members] own their decisions, and to feel fundamentally empowered,” said Ankit Bhatia at the event. “It’s about protecting freedom of speech.”
Starring front and center at the event was a 7 foot statue of Harambe the Gorilla, who in late October had been in the news, for facing the Charging Bull on Bowling Green, as a symbolic gesture of how “out of touch Wall Street has become with the needs of the everyday people,” according to their site. Harambe had also recently traveled to California, where he stood opposite the corporate offices of Facebook, now known as Meta. Harambe is modeled after the gorilla was killed at the Cincinnati Zoo in 2016.
