Trend Report Tuesday: Grammy Awards Red Carpet 2018

Happy Trend Report Tuesday!

We are in the midst of award show season, and the red carpet has been hot and fabulous, and that trend continued two days ago on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. The Grammys took place this year at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the first time since 2003 that these awards took place on the east coast instead of Los Angeles. The Grammy Awards are presented by The Recording Academy to recognize and acknowledge success in the music industry and is hosted by James Corden.

Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, and Bruno Mars were just a few from the long list of talented artists who went home with one (or more) Grammy awards. You can check out the complete list of winners of the 2018 Grammy here.

It’s music’s biggest night as well as fashion’s most extra red-carpet. The difference between the Grammy Awards and other award show red carpets is distinctly different, as the Grammy red carpet is full of glamorous, more “casual” outfits compared to other red carpets that stress elegance and formality. The Grammy Awards fashion has a mix of everything – short dresses, long gowns, jumpsuits, sequins, leather, sexy slits, and so on. You never know what to expect each year, and that makes the Grammy’s red carpet so thrilling for the world of fashion. This year, in particular, to Time’s Up movement has taken over fashion by the black dresses at the Golden Globes (recap here) and a white rose as an accessory to signify solidarity for the movement at the Grammy’s. Several stars showed up looking absolutely stunning head to toe – and there’s no doubt about that.

Our #1 best dressed was a tough choice, but it goes to Hailee Steinfeld, looking effortlessly sexy and confident in her simple white gown and glamorous accessories/ makeup to go along with it. Two words: Slay. Girl. Here are some of Downtown’s favorite looks, just to name a few, from Sunday night’s Grammy Awards red carpet.

Trend Report Tuesday: SAG Awards 2018 Red Carpet

On Sunday night, January 21, 2018, the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA. Hosted by Kristen Bell, the award show honored the best achievements in film and television performances for the year of 2017.

The SAG Awards has become a prestigious event and one of the industry’s most prized honors. The show presents 13 awards that focus on awarding individual performances as well as the entire ensemble of a serious (drama and comedy) and the cast of a motion picture. It is the only televised awards show to exclusively honor performers, according to the Screen Actors Guild Awards website.

You can find the full list of 2018 SAG Awards winners here.

But, of course, the red carpet moments prior to the award show were a significant part of the night. The fashion of past red carpets over the past year is hard to beat, but we were obsessed with numerous looks throughout the night and felt like it was an overall successful night for style (but, of course, there were some looks that went completely wrong).

Compared to the black-out from the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards red carpet was more vivid and lively, but still full of fierce, jaw-dropping moments. Each dress seemed so unique to the specific attendee and several celebrities completely stole the show, looking as glamorous as ever.

Here are some of Downtown’s favorite looks from Sunday night’s SAG Award Show red carpet. Our #1 best dressed goes to Mandy Moore, looking absolutely flawless in a shimmery cobalt blue dress. Fabulous.

Trend Report Tuesday: Golden Globes 2018 Red Carpet Recap

On Sunday, January 7, 2018, Seth Meyers hosted the 75th Golden Globes Awards at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The Golden Globes recognizes the best in the film and American television industry of this past year, 2017. You can find the complete list of winners from Sunday’s 75th Golden Globes Awards here.

Some of the hottest and most glamorous in Hollywood showed up for this award show in a stunning – and bold – manner. This red carpet was rather memorable as actors and actresses took over the red carpet dressed in black standing up for the #TimesUp movement. This movement focuses on the present day issue of sexual assault, harassment and inequality in the workplace and uses the slogan “Times Up” to start putting the foot down and do something about it. The Golden Globes was flooded with supporters of this movement and truly brought it to attention. Hollywood showed up wearing black in solidarity to the Times Up movement – and everything about the night was absolutely fabulous.

The red carpet was full of intense energy and killer gowns. Although the fashion atmosphere was alike, there were so many stars who dominated the all-black fashion and Downtown can’t get enough of our best-dressed list. Bravo ladies, for standing up for a better world and in a stylish demeanor.

Here are our favorite looks from Sunday night’s award ceremony red carpet.
