How DOWNTOWN’s Contributing Family & Lifestyle Editor Brianne Manz manages to keep it all together through a hurricane.

Happy Halloween week everyone! I feel like I’ve dropped the ball on Halloween this year. The kids are literally going their separate ways, so I haven’t even thought about a costume yet. I may still dress up and do something with Jason so I’ll keep our options open for the moment. In other news, I don’t know if you saw we decided to postpone our St Barths trip due to the hurricane happening in the Caribbean right now. I pray Jamaica will be spared by this category 4!

How to keep a blowout

I promised this week I would share how I keep my blowout for a week. I’ve been doing this for years now. First I’m going to say you need to train your hair. If your hair is greasy after 2 days, even a day, try to resist the urge to wash it, wear a headband, and just keep pushing it each week. Next, every night you’ll need this tie to sleep with. I find it holds the curl the best. Now I do go and get blowouts weekly just because I never learned how to blowout my own hair. I think using these products before you wash are key: this trio and this conditioning hair mask. I keep these on for a few hours before I head to my blowout. Next, once your hair is washed I love this shampoo and conditioner and bring it with me to the salon, I ask for a leave in and heat protectant, nothing else and finish with light hair spray. I find when they start putting in the oils, you’ll lose the blowout in a day. I also take these supplements for my hair, skin, and nails.

What I’ve been working on!

It was a busy week for Stroller in the City, I posted a ton of sponsored content! All of the reels that went live I feel so incredible proud of them and beyond grateful I get to work with companies I truly love and use in my everyday life. To name a few – Madison Reed for my color touch-ups while I travel or in between salon visits. I made these insane muffins with blueberries from Josh Posh Farm, if these aren’t in your freezer 365 days a year you are missing out. My code: BRIANNE10 will get you 10% off your first order. Next up, my family and I went bowling at Lucky Strike! Honestly your kids may think its cheesy to go bowling with their family, but honestly it’s the best time ever and my kids love it so much!

I also had the chance to work with Meta again on amazing new updates to Instagram Teen Accounts, and October is Cybersecurity awareness month and having a proper system in place when it comes to security is super important.

I also went to a few events like my friend Mary’s Halloween party at Minuto Bauli. Its the cutest Italian pastry shop in Union Square. If you’re ever in the neighborhood definitely go check them out. I also had cooking class with Weleda and Baked by Melissa at Eataly flatiron. My sister and I caught the newest musical to hit Broadway – Romy & Michele! If you were obsessed with the movie like we were, you would love this one. I also checked out my beloved LoveShackFancy’s new store in Soho, which is so beyond, I mean look at this setup in the back of the store.
